Pastor Brian M. Geiser
Brian was born in 1969 and was reared in Roanoke, VA. Brian began his ministry in 1984 being called to serve as Music Minister at the Roanoke Valley Baptist Temple. In 1987, he accepted the call as Music Minister/Organist/Business Administrator for Glade Creek Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, VA and served in that capacity until March of 2001. In May of 2001, Brian began his service as Music Minister/Organist here at First Christian Church of Vinton. In April of 2002, the church unanimously voted to support Brian as he sought his Minister's license through the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He has also served as guest organist at Calvary Tabernacle, and Red Hill Church of the Brethren.
Throughout his ministry for the Lord, Brian has served in many capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Historian, Building and Grounds Committee Chairman, Music Committee Chairman, Church Custodian, and many other positions.
Brian served as accompanist for the Singing Churchmen from 1989-2004 and as an assistant organist for Lotz Funeral Homes 1987-present. He is a past member of the American Guild of Organists (Lynchburg, VA Chapter) and served as Associational Music Director for the Strawberry Baptist Association from 1993 until 1996. Brian has also been a member of the FACination adult pops choral group in Lynchburg, Virginia since 1999.
Brian graduated from William Fleming High School in 1987, Virginia Western Community College (AAS Business Management) in 1990, and Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy ,with Jailor, Court Service and Civil Process Certification in 1998 and Law Enforcement Certification in 2005. He is employed full time as a Lieutenant Deputy Sheriff with the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office, the largest Sheriff's Office in Virginia west of Richmond.

Harold Hodges- Elder Emeritus
Harold Hodges, having served faithfully for many years in a number of different capacities here at First Christian, not the least of which being Elder, he was unanimously voted Elder Emeritus by the congregation. This is an honorary position on the Elder Board that does not require active duty on the Board. Brother Harold and his wife Hazel, have been instrumental in the spiritual and physical growth of our church and we are very thankful that the Lord has blessed us with their friendship and love. We continue to lift up both Harold and Hazel in prayer as they deal with Harold's health concerns.
Wayne Overstreet- Deacon, Board Chair
Wayne serves as our Board Vice Chair and conducts the Board Meetings in the Chair's absence. Wayne's wife, Sue, is our Youth Sunday School teacher and his entire family is very active in service here at First Christian.
Hayes Bennett- Elder, Board Vice Chair
Hayes Bennett serves on the Elder Board and is currently Chair of the Church Board. Hayes served in the United States Navy and is an Electrician by trade. He can frequently be found taking care of various tasks around the church such as mowing, raking leaves, repairing light switches, singing in the choir and preparing communion each Sunday. He resides in Troutville with his wife Bonnie.
Bonnie Bennett- Elder, Board Secretary
In addition to recording meeting minutes as our Church Board Secretary, Bonnie teaches the Adult Sunday School class, sings in the choir, serves on various committees in the church and is our regular representative to the Regional Assembly. Bonnie is an Inventory Specialist with RGIS and lives in Troutville with her husband Hayes.
Roy Amos- Elder
Roy and his wife Susie (our Financial Secretary) are long time members of First Christian. Roy has served in numerous capacities within the church over the years. Roy is always ready to do most anything asked of him and we're very appreciative of his ability to pitch in at a moment's notice. Roy spearheads our Disciple Men's group, serves as an Elder, greets everyone at the door with a smile and a bulletin every Sunday and always reports to Pastor Brian with a headcount each week. There's so much more brother Roy does that we don't have space here to list it all. Thank the Lord for willing workers like Roy Amos!
Charles Ellis- Elder
Charlie and his wife, Kathy, joined FCCV in 2010 and we are delighted to have them! They are both Ordained Disciples of Christ Ministers. Charlie just retired from his most recent pastorate at Ledbetter Christian Church in Meherrin, Virginia. Kathy works as a Director of an adult home and is our Backyard Bible Club Director. They both enjoy volunteering at the Charity Cottage Thrift Store in Vinton. They make their home in the town of Vinton as well.
Jim Patton- Deacon, Treasurer
Jim serves as our Treasurer, keeping track of tithes and offerings and paying the bills of the church. It is a tireless and often thankless job, but he does a wonderful job with it and we're grateful to have him. Jim also pitches in and helps with maintenance tasks around the church and sings in the choir. He is active with our Disicple Men's group also.
Carlton Overstreet- Deacon, Assistant Treasurer
Carlton served for many years as our Treasurer before retiring from that position in 2009. He currently serves as a Deacon and assists our Treasurer Jim Patton in his absence. Carlton is also active with our Disciple Men's group.
Susie Amos- Financial Secretary
Susie is a long time member of First Christian and has held numerous positions in the church over the years. She is currently our Financial Secretary. This is a very important task, ensuring that all gifts and offerings are correctly recorded and attributed to the giver. Susie and her husband, Roy (an Elder) make their home in Vinton.
Alicia Lipscomb- Deaconess
Alicia is on of our Deaconesses and also sings with the choir. Alicia and her husband Leon (a Deacon) reside in Moneta. Alica is a proud new grandma in 2012!
Imogene Brock- Deaconess, Custodian
Imogene serves as our church Custodian. Due to recent health issues, her daughter Pam has been assiting with the Custodial duties. Despite her health concerns, Imogene is one of our most faithful members, being in attendance every time she possibly can. Imogene makes her home in Troutville.
Leon Lipscomb- Deacon
Leon currently serves as a Deacon and always stands ready to help with any need the church has. You can frequently find him helping to set up for an activity or a dinner or cleaning up afterward. Leon was instrumental in buildling our handicapped ramp in the Sanctuary a few years ago.
Ronnie St.Clair- Deacon
Ronnie serves on the Deacon Board and is always at the ready to assist in any way needed at the church. Ronnie has a deep compassion for others and that is reflected in his exemplary service as a Deacon here at First Christian. Ronnie and his wife, Charlotte, have a beautiful home in Vinton.
Robert Ferris- Deacon
Robert and his wife Lynn make their home in Goodview. Robert serves on the Deacon Board and shares a great passion of growing the church. We've very glad Robert and Lynn call First Christian "home" now!
Sue Overstreet- Deaconess
Sue is the wife of our Board Chair and Deacon, Wayne Overstreet. Sue is our Youth Sunday School teacher and pseudo-Youth Director. She has really peaked the kids interest in church and they are always planning an activity or outreach to the community. We're very thankful to Sue for breathing new life into our youth program!
Michele Clements- Church Clerk
Michele not only serves as our Clerk, recording information for those who join our fellowship and keeping those records safe, she also sings in the choir and is always ready to assist with any church function we have. Last year, Michele was "Mary" on our Christmas float in the Vinton Parade. We won 1st place!
