Sounds exciting! How Do I Get There?
First Christian is easy to find! Take Orange Avenue (US Route 460) to its intersection with Gus Nicks Boulevard (Virginia Route 24). Follow Gus Nicks toward the Town of Vinton. The first stoplight you come to will be the intersection with King Street. Take your NEXT immediate right after the King Street light onto Dunkirk Avenue. Follow Dunkirk for approximately 1/2 mile and begin looking for Sixth Street on your left. Turn left onto Sixth and First Christian is the brick church at the top of the hill on your left at the intersection of Sixth Street and Vale Avenue.
There is parking on the curb along both sides of Sixth Street and in the lot across from the church. Our main entrance includes approximately 4 steps into the foyer. From the foyer, we have a number of steps to the sanctuary, however, in 2010 we installed a chair lift, making for much easier access. There is also a direct entrance to the sanctuary from Vale Avenue at the rear of the church which has no steps and includes a wheelchair accessible ramp. With advance notice, one of our ushers will be more than happy to assist you as you enter the building.
